A while ago, I was feeling frustrated with the struggles Spirit had thrown on my path. Though I believe everything happens for a reason, that there is opportunity for growth in all challenges, and one’s journey can be enriched with life’s challenges, I was still finding it difficult to accept there are some things I just have no control over. Some things I cannot prevent. This was especially true for me as I mourned my Mother's death, and the subsequent death of numerous other people in my life. And while I believe and trust that everything (especially the challenges and hardships in life) are in God's hands... believing and practicing are two different things. And the latter is not easy.

But whenever life throws me something particularly challenging I create a ritual around it. I find it helpful to have a physical process to represent the mental and emotional steps I need to take in order to overcome something. So, in an effort to remind myself that the challenges, struggles, and obstacles put on my path are all to serve a greater purpose (likely one I cannot fully see or appreciate in the moment) I created a method to sign my struggles over to Spirit. And thus the “God’s Business” box was born!

A box where I toss my struggles with the realization that they are not for me to resolve, they are (in a strange way) none of my business, but God’s Business! So, I scribble 'em down on thank you cards to remind myself to be thankful for the hardship and then toss it in my God's Business Box, signing it over to Spirit to deal with. It doesn't make my challenges disappear but I do find that having a physical, hands on way of signing them over to the universe helpful in allowing me to let go of them. And now I am sharing this ritual with you!
